All my life I knew that somebody somewhere knew the answer to the downward spiral of our society and the day to day problems that affect all our lives. I was doing well in life. I had a great job, lots of good friends and a new car. I had traveled and worked overseas, I lived in a nice apartment and life was exciting. I knew about ethics and I thought I was a fairly good person. I liked to help others and I had no fear of taking some responsibility for situations that needed addressing in my community. However, I did not have the tools to help others as well as I would have liked and I did not know how to repair past mistakes. Sometimes I made decisions based on selfish or misguided needs.
I knew that I was a spiritual being, not just a body, but I had not yet found a way to grow in that respect. It had been a hit and miss! Read this book; watch that documentary; meet this Bhuddist; talk to that Minister or priest. Occasionally I would meet some very inspiring person and for a time I would feel that I may be close to knowing why I was in this time in this place.
Then, one day I met a Scientologist and his wife. I was sharing their house. I had been living overseas for a couple of years and had come back to Sydney to live. They were very kind to me and became very good friends. The husband had been a Scientologist for over 20 years and he was very highly trained in Scientology technology. Immediately my life began to change.
How can I describe to you the effect of being connected up to a Scientologist. It was like opening a window in a prison cell and seeing a meadow full of buttercups and butterflies. He was very very sane. He helped me to improve my life and address its problems for about a year. He gave me a book about Scientology Ethics and when I became sick he taught me about the real reason for all sickness and accidents. I handled what needed to be handled - without drugs or harmful therapies - and I became well again.
One day my new Scientologist friend took me in to a Scientology Org (short for Organisation - or Church). When I walked in the first thought I had was "Oh, thank God. Here they are". For in actual fact I had been searching for these people all my life. Its not like a regular Church which sits empty for most of the week. It is a vibrant busy place. There are course rooms, counseling rooms, a cafe, a lovely Bookstore (the Bookstore Officer - Amanda - is my favorite staff member) and a Receptionist with a smiling face. You can even take a tour or watch a film in the state of the art film room.
That is now about 7 years ago. Since then I have done many courses. Some of them are: Overcoming Ups and Downs in Life, How to Improve Conditions in Life, How to Improve Relationships with Others, How to Have Financial Success, The Personal Values and Integrity Course etc etc. Each of these short courses (a few nights study in the Church's Academy) led to life changing wins. I mean my whole life just miraculously changed. I changed. I was happier, more in charge of my life and reaching out into life and the community. I began to confront and handle past problems and upsets and to learn the technology of L. Ron Hubbard which can handle anything - and I mean anything!!!
I have continued to study courses and do well across all dynamics (areas of life). I have been a Volunteer Minister for many years and I am an ordained Minister of the Church of Scientology and I travel around the world on Missions helping those in need by using Scientology technology and teaching others, of any religion, to use it also. As a Scientologist you can still continue to be a member of another religion. Scientology does not interfere with that. In fact, in my view, Scientology is the keeper of all religions. I know Scientologists who are also Christians, Jews, Bhuddists etc. In fact some are even clergy in these other religions.
