When I first heard about Scientology almost 31 years ago, I was an immature college student. Whatever ethical standards I had had were already slipping dangerously. Although I hadn't taken drugs, it was only a matter of opportunity; had I had the chance, I'm sure I would have.
With my first auditing (counseling) session, I knew immediately and without doubt that this was the way to a better, saner life, and I have never looked back. I thank L. Ron Hubbard for showing me how to take responsibility for my past and freely create a new, bright future.
As a teacher, I owe most of my success to the Study and Ethics Technologies of L. Ron Hubbard, and the communication skills and awareness which I have gained from Scientology training and auditing. For example, in my Scientology auditing, I covered the subject of problems. This gave me the "ability to recognize the source of problems and make them vanish." This ability has helped me immeasurably in my tutoring - I can easily recognize the source of the student's difficulty. To resolve it, I can call upon my knowledge of the Study Technology, which lays out the various study barriers and their causes and remedies, or the Ethics Technology, which helps me to handle situations such as motivation, poor work habits, and unethical behavior.
My communication skills are especially useful in working with foreign students - understanding and making myself understood are essential.
The greatest benefit I have from Scientology is stability. Scientology is the study of knowing how to know, and I now know that I can know. This is not a matter of gut feeling - it's actually knowing. With the principles of Scientology, I know that any situation, any relationship, any person, any book or idea can be understood. The relative sanity, effectiveness, and applicability of any factor can be determined, and I see my abilities and the abilities of those around me improving day by day.
It is possible for any person - all people - to learn these essentials, and it is possible for man to live together in peace and flourish and prosper.
