My lifelong interest and involvement initially came from working as a student nurse in Christchurch in the late 1960's. It was very apparent the mind had an enormous impact on our wellbeing but the lectures given us by the psychologists and psychiatrist (recently deceased Dr. Dobson) contained no real workable answers. I was extremely fortunate to be directed towards Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health - just the title alone was exciting! My early experiences in Christchurch with this new therapy were extremely positive and very beneficial. After completing my nursing studies and my years post graduate work I took a year out to study the material available on Dianetics in the early 1970's. I graduated from these studies a fully certified Dianeticist and have continued to practice and study all new developments as they became available throughout the '70's and '80's.
In the early '80's I decided to do the Purification Program (detoxification program) after seeing the results of others coming off the program. They all, on a one for one basis, demonstrated a markedly increased improvement or clarity in thinking and I.Q. All showed improvement in their communication skill and genuinely had improved liking for themselves and others.
Three of us did the Scientology Purification Program together around 1980-81 and from that 3 week stint I emerged with a very different perception of myself in relation to my body and more importantly had a much improved ability to look into and deal with those troublesome areas of my mind when directed to do so by my "auditor" (Scientology counsellor). A "fog" had cleared from my thinking/thought processes I didn't even know was there!
Today, some 15 years later, I'm really pleased to be seeing young people going through the Purification Program and the associated Narconon Program. All the graduates of the full program are leading Drug-free lives, and are contributing to society, caring for their family and friends and being a real positive influence as against their past negative behavior which was creating problems not only for themselves for their family, friends and work associates.
