I became aware if the Church of Scientology in 1989, thank goodness. I had always been a Top Achiever, and I would always rise to the top in any given situation, but life began to change early 1988. no longer was I rising to the top, rather I began to find myself in a spiral that was going down. I was at the time a silent partner and major shareholder in an Import Business and on a day to day basis ran a Training and Development business.
The spiral I was on saw the partner who ran my import business run the business into a loss of $480,000, those funds never to be found or located, and he himself spending 12 months in prison for fraud and deception, none of which related to what had happened to the import company. In the august of 1988 I had a massive car accident resulting in 4 fractures to the pelvic bone, 7 broken ribs, multiple contusions to the bladder and uterus. I lost 12 months away from my training business, consequently between the import business and my accident I could not cope physically, mentally or financially and I lived in a world of grasping at straws in order to keep going on a daily basis.
My answer to it all was "booze". I managed to keep off of it during the day but each night I would drive home and drink and drink so I could relax and be able to face another day. I convinced myself that I did not need it and was not hooked, yet in truth, where it counts most, within me, I was hooked and in trouble. All the things I had done in the past, all the training I had, none helped. I would pick myself up for a day a week, only to find myself sinking again and no apparent way out. I knew I was going to lose everything, house, jewelry, personal possessions - which did occur, as I was at that point considered a bad risk to my bank and creditors. I did not agree with them and fought hard to maintain my house at least, it was not to be and was sold from under me, and I had to begin again in the worst possible way, physically and mentally broke.
Enter Scientology. I was introduced to its services through a guy whom had been doing my newsletter. I was very reluctant as I had researched many of the religions for answers and had many disagreements on some of the people I had met and spoken with who would say that their religion had the answers and yet it appeared that their own lives were not in order and balanced. I was told that Scientology was a workable practice and I would find the answers I was searching for, hence I signed up for a Basic course, and I need to say that to call it a basic course is an understatement, that 'basic' course was a major turning point in my life. It gave me all of the answers that I could see were the truth. I then went on to do 3 more courses all of which were turning points in my life. I began to realize that my spiral had actually begun years and years prior that my import business and the car accident were a total culmination and the universe saying STOP and fix it right now. Since that point I have become a dedicated Scientologist and have donated for many services - all of which have been "life changing".
Today I am happily married in the perfect relationship, I have solid friends that support and care for me and I for them. I have a career that has put me at the top 3% income group in Australia, a great social life, my physical well being is 100% and I have my credit rating restored - which has importance to me as I wanted people and organizations to have faith and respect in myself, my ability, and see that my integrity was something I did, not just spoke about.
It is important that I say that I believe and know that my life to date is a miracle. I do not believe that the massive changes could have happened without Scientology and it's workability and practicality. Nor could it have happened without the support of the staff members of the Melbourne Church of Scientology who have always been my 'light at the end of the tunnel'. They are always able to show me a solution to any given set of circumstances and are always there genuinely to help and assist. In turn I support them in what they do 100%.
