About Myself

H ello, my name is Brian Godley, and here is a little bit about myself:

I am 29 years old and a Software Salesman in Glendale, CA. I have been married for about 5 years.

I got into Scientology in November of 1990 when I was attending college in Moorpark, CA. At the time I was going through a rough period and had just broken up with a girl that I really cared for and was feeling a little low. To take my mind off of the matter I went into a bookstore and was going to pick up something to read. I was going to get a mystery book when I remembered a commercial I had seen on TV for Dianetics. I decided to buy that instead. I took it home and started to read it. It really made sense to me. More importantly, it said that there was a practical method of addressing the problems of the mind. I could not put the book down for three days. I decided to take another step, call up, and see if I could visit the local organization. I arrived at the local Dianetics Center and eventually was introduced to Scientology. I have been involved ever since. One of the things that really impressed me about Scientology was the fact that I did not have to buy into what someone was saying. The only requirement was a willingness to observe. Since I was willing to apply the technology of Scientology, and observe the results, I gained a personal certainty on it's workability that I could not have gotten in any other way. Because I saw how well it worked, I decided to volunteer as a staff member for the Church and did so for about 6 years. That gave me a great opportunity to not only observe the positive affects that Scientology had on myself personally, but with others as well. I have seen marriages on the brink of divorce be brought back together. I have seen people go from being very wishy-washy to bright and determined.

I have seen very ugly sectors of society with heavy drug abuse and crime begin to take on a more positive appearance with people going from hopeless to hopeful.

Seeing all this is part of my certainty that things can change for the better. Though I am no longer volunteering directly for the Church, I plan on having a continual role in improving conditions around me.

My wife, who is a Human Resources Executivean, and her family are all Scientologists as well. My father-in-law is Software Executive for a large outfit is Silicon Valley.

I have taken up quite a few interests lately and plan on involving myself in many more. I have a passion for movies and golf which I play on a regular basis with some of my golfing buddies. I also like to work with my hands and have been involved in construction and renovation. I enjoy working on public projects where I can build something and see the results. Being in the software business I also enjoy tinkering around with computers and software.

My future goals include raising a solid family and being active in social betterment activities.[End]
